Diwali is worshiped before sunset on the new moon night. For this you will need idols of Lord Ganesha and Maa Lakshmi. Along with this, Kalash, Roli, Molly, coins, rice, kumkum, betel nut, incense sticks, camphor, flowers and garlands are needed. You take fruits and sweets in the prasad.
Diyas and candles are lit at different places after cleaning the house thoroughly to welcome Goddess Lakshmi into the house and keep all the evil forces away from the house. Rangoli is made outside the house using different colors along with rice, vermilion for the arrival of Maa Lakshmi. Along with this, small footprints are also put on the door of the house. During the night, lamps are kept burning throughout the night for the secret arrival of Goddess Lakshmi.
According to Hindu rituals, Lord Ganesha is worshiped first at the beginning of any worship and the same rule applies in Lakshmi Puja. First the idols of Lord Ganesha and Maa Lakshmi are placed on a pedestal. After this both are bathed. Then different bhajans and aartis are performed. After performing the aarti of the Lord, Prasad is given to all the people. Everyone wishes for wealth and opulence for themselves from Lord Ganesha and Maa Lakshmi. After worshiping and distributing prasad, firecrackers are also burst.
One thing that should be kept in mind in the worship of Diwali is that five gods and goddesses are worshiped together in the worship. First of all, Lord Ganesha is worshipped. After that three different forms of Maa Lakshmi are worshipped. Mahalakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity, Mahasaraswati and Mahakali, the goddess of learning and knowledge, these three forms are worshipped. Along with this, there is a provision to worship Lord Kuber, the god of wealth.
धनतेरस पूजा विधि
1. सबसे पहले चौकी पर लाल रंग का कपड़ा बिछाएं।
2. अब गंगाजल छिड़कर भगवान धन्वंतरि, माता महालक्ष्मी और भगवान कुबेर की प्रतिमा या फोटो स्थापित करें।
3. भगवान के सामने देसी घी का दीपक, धूप और अगरबत्ती जलाएं।
4. अब देवी-देवताओं को लाल फूल अर्पित करें।
5. अब आपने इस दिन जिस भी धातु धन सिक्का या फिर बर्तन अथवा ज्वेलरी की खरीदारी की है, उसे चौकी पर रखें।
6. लक्ष्मी स्तोत्र, लक्ष्मी चालीसा, लक्ष्मी यंत्र, कुबेर यंत्र और कुबेर स्तोत्र का पाठ करें।
7. धनतेरस की पूजा के दौरान लक्ष्मी माता के मंत्रों का जाप करें और मिठाई का भोग भी लगाएं।

व्यापारी मांगते हैं अपनी गलती की मांफीचौपड़ा पूजन के दिन सभी व्यापारी अपनी-अपनी दुकानों पर पूजा करते हैं। इस दिन वे ईश्वर से वर्तमान वर्ष में की हुई सभी गलतियों के लिए मांफी मांगते हैं। साथ ही भविष्य में ये चीज न दोहराने का प्रण करते हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त वे लक्ष्मी-गणेश जी से उनके व्यवसाय एवं उन पर सदैव आशीर्वाद बनाए रखने की कामना करते हैं।

वैदिक प्रक्रिया से होती है पूजाचौपड़ा पूजन को शारदा पूजन एवं मुहूर्त के नाम से भी जाना जाता है। इस दिन सभी व्यापारी अपनी दुकानों में लक्ष्मी-गणेश की मूर्ति स्थापित करते हैं। उन्हें फूल-माला चढ़ाते हैं, भोग लगाते हैं, धूप-दीप अर्पण करते हैं। साथ ही वैदिक मंत्रों के साथ उनका पूजन करते हैं।

व्यवसाय की शुरुआत के लिए बेहतरचौपड़ा पूजन को पुराने व्यापार को नए सिरे से शुरू करने एवं किसी नए व्यवसाय की शुरुआत करने का दिन माना जाता है। इसलिए इस दिन व्यापारी अपनी पुरानी बही खाता भगवान के सामने रख देते हैं। कई व्यापारी ये अनुष्ठान प्रशिक्षित पुजारी से भी कराते हैं एवं अपनी दुकान में हवन कराते हैं।

शुभ लाभ इसके पहले पन्ने पर शुभ लाभ लिख दिया जाता है और उस दिन से नए बही खाते की शुरुआत की जाती है। माना जाता है कि इस दिन से नई शुरुआत करने पर निश्चित तौर पर कामयाबी मिलती है।

विभिन्न प्रांतों में होती है धूमचौपड़ा पूजन देश-भर के सभी राज्यों में बड़े हर्षोल्लास से मनाया जाता है। गुजरात, राजस्थान और महाराष्ट्र जैसे क्षेत्रों में तो इस दिन को एक नए व्यवसायिक वर्ष के तौर पर माना जाता है। इसलिए व्यापारी इस दिन अपनी दुकानों में नया स्टॉक लगाते हैं। लक्ष्मी-गणेश की पुरानी मूर्ति के स्थान पर नई मूर्ति स्थापित करते हैं।
8 खरीदारी के लिए भी शुभ
खरीदारी के लिए भी शुभचौपड़ा पूजन का दिन महज व्यापारियों के लिए ही नही बल्कि खरीदारों के लिए भी अच्छा होता है। कहते हैं कि इस दिन शुभ मुहूर्त पर कोई नई चीज खरीद कर घर लाने से बरकत होती है और सालभर घर में खुशियां एवं समृद्धि रहती है।

Dhanteras worship method
1. First of all, spread red colored cloth on the post.
2. Now install the idol or photo of Lord Dhanvantari, Mata Mahalakshmi and Lord Kubera by sprinkling Gangajal.
3. Light a desi ghee lamp, incense and incense sticks in front of the Lord.
4. Now offer red flowers to the deities.
5. Now any metal money coin or utensils or jewelery you have bought on this day, keep it on the post.
6. Recite Lakshmi Stotra, Lakshmi Chalisa, Lakshmi Yantra, Kuber Yantra and Kuber Stotra.
7. During the worship of Dhanteras, chant the mantras of Lakshmi Mata and also offer sweets.

Worship is done through Vedic process, Chaupada Puja is also known as Sharda Puja and Muhurta. On this day all the traders install the idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh in their shops. They offer flowers and garlands, offer bhog, offer incense and lamps. Also worship them with Vedic mantras.

Better for starting a business, Chaupada Puja is considered to be the day to start the old business afresh and to start a new business. Therefore, on this day traders keep their old books of account in front of God. Many merchants also get these rituals done by trained priests and conduct havan in their shop.

In place of the old idol of Lakshmi-Ganesh, a new idol is installed.

Even for shopping, the day of Shubhchaupada Puja is not only good for the traders but also for the buyers. It is said that on this auspicious time, buying something new brings blessings to the house and brings happiness and prosperity in the house throughout the year.
